Donald Trump's launch of $99 NFTs sparks 10% decline in Digital World SPAC

Investors in the Digital World acquisition SPAC, which is looking to merge with Donald Trump’s Truth Social, were unimpressed by former President Donald Trump’s introduction of a $99 digital NFT.

“These limited edition cards feature amazing ART of my Life & Career! Collect all of your favorite Trump Digital Trading Cards, very much like a baseball card, but hopefully much more exciting… Only $99 each! Would make a great Christmas gift. Don’t Wait. They will be gone, I believe, very quickly!” Trump posted on Truth Social.

Shares of Digital World Acquisition originally soared 10% on Wednesday after Donald Trump hinted at a “big announcement.” The “big announcement” came in the form of the release of a “Donald Trump Digital Trading Card Collection” as the cryptocurrency and NFT markets crashed, and as a result, Digital World shares gave up all those gains on Thursday. ,

The TMTG and DWAC transactions may have been known to Rocket One Capital prior to public announcement, with reports that the SEC is also investigating. As a result of these developments, the actual conclusion of the merger deal has now been delayed to September 2023.
